Noted: Impressions and Musings

Nicole Cragin Davis writes humorous anecdotes about life and shares travel planning advice from her extensive travels. With loved ones in the medical world, she has a lot to say about navigating the difficulties of medical life as a physician in training. She is also a classically trained cellist from Eastman.

She loves crossfit, weight lifting, and indoor rock climbing. She adores her elderly rescue pets, a cat and dog. Some call her a tea connoisseur, and she does not correct them, merely offers them tea.

Goodbye, my Charlie cat. 4 years wasn't enough time with you, but there was no doubt in my mind that we knew how much we loved each other. 💔 #charliecat #charlieinlouisville #charlieinchatt
I captured this reflection of an elderly man staring contemplatively at the Washington Monument while standing in front of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, which displays over 58,000 Americans who lost their lives during the war. I imagine he is a veteran. I wonder the horrors he has seen, the trauma of survival that he bears. I think of my natural compassion for him, which is a higher magnitude of compassion compared to what I feel for the disheveled homeless man on the corner who is asking for money and who also served in our country's wars. I speculate the main difference between this clean shaven man and the homeless I have encountered while in Washington, D.C. I surmise that mental illness borne of the trauma of war and its brother, substance abuse, have a lot to do with the disparity between our veterans and the way they live their lives. Then I feel ashamed for feeling less compassionate toward those who function less well after the brutality of war. I do not know what my fellow man has gone through. I cannot conceive of the daily horror he endures. I can do better. We can do better.
White House tour and pandas at the National D.C. Zoo. So far I have gone to 3 out of 4 zoos in the U.S.A. to see pandas! 🐼
Safely in D.C., already befriending Halloween cats.
Time in Florida means quality time with loved ones! Off to D.C. tomorrow.
The last day of our Disney Cruise we got to enjoy the lovely Castaway Cay, which is Disney's private island in the Bahamas, only open to Disney cruises. I could definitely spend a few days there. I enjoyed some kayaking, paddle boarding, and lazing around. Also, Amanda and I got to do the water slide, which was pretty awesome.
