Journey to Colombia

Dear family and friends,

Thanks to your generosity, support, and prayers, I am on my way to Leticia, Colombia in South America tomorrow with 100% of my trip support raised. I can’t thank you enough, and I am praising God for His provision. I am so excited to meet the children at La Aljaba orphanage. I have been hearing stories about them and seeing their adorable faces in pictures for weeks. I included a few pictures below so you can see what I mean!

The missions team is primarily church members from McKinney Memorial Bible Church in Ft. Worth, Texas. I am blessed to be tagging along as one of the Memphis missionaries due to my close relationship with Orphanos (shown above). We have three plane flights to take before we can get to the kids, and it’ll be a stretch over two days. Please be praying for our team’s safety and health as we make the long journey to the Amazon.

While we are in Leticia the McKinney team will be constructing eyeglasses for the children and for the general populace at the free clinic. You can learn more about those particulars on the church’s blog here. Orphanos managed to get a cello for me from a local music program, so I am looking forward to playing for the kids while I am down there. I will make sure someone records a portion of it so you can see! These acts of service are helpful to the orphanage and the community at large, but our lasting impact will be the love of God bestowed on these precious children. Please pray that Christ is evident in us and through as we minister to them.

I am leaving tomorrow and will return Sunday, June 22. The unfortunate side to this is that my 3 year wedding anniversary is June 18, so I might be a teensy bit homesick that day without Caleb. I should have wi-fi while I am down in Colombia, but it’s typically on the slower side. Please try to refrain from texting me unless it is really important, as that will cost me extra money. Feel free to email me all you want, or save your stories for when I am back in the States!

Thank you for your prayers! I look forward to telling you all about our trip when I return. I pray that God blesses you mightily this week as He has blessed me.

Love,
Nicole
